It’s almost time! Be draft ready.

Fantasy Football is almost here. People are starting to get draft ready. They are trying to be prepared to do the best they can. They are deciding one kind of food they should have at their draft day party. These things are important. They are the life blood of any solid draft. The number one thing that you need on draft day is knowledge. I am going to list some quick things you need to know about being a Fantasy Football Champion (like yours truly)

  1. Read everything. Make sure you read more than just Matthew Berry on ESPN. Even Berry suggests you read everything that is out there. He is correct. Don’t just pick up the Fantasy Football mags. Read the sports sections, Twitter feeds of athletes, so on and so forth that way you know who is ready to play and who isn’t.
  2. Back to back running backs is dead. Make sure you scoop an elite WR in the first 3 rounds. After the first 10 there is a significant drop off in their production. Back to back running backs in the first 2 rounds is a dead philosophy and if you do it you will not win.  Running back, WR, then an elite QB if they are still there (Brees, Rodgers, Peyton). Manning will have a comeback fantasy year this year. Mark it down!
  3. Have fun. It’s a game and not even a real one. If you stress all day everyday about your fantasy team you will F it up. No doubt about that in my mind.
  4. Please for the love of Jesus don’t scoop more than one quarterback. It’s foolish. Last year I took two quarterbacks and I am glad I did cause I got Brett Favre in the 3rd to last round. Turns out he was one of the top 5 fantasy quarterbacks last year. However, did I need to get him on draft day? I am sure I could have scooped someone of his like for one week off the Waiver Wire.  I mean if you thought he was going to be a top 5 QB you are lying so did he need to be drafted? Or could I have used a sleeper pick at that spot. A Jerome Harrison if you will. The point being is don’t even bother with a 2nd QB in the draft because there are waiver wire options. He will be productive the day you need him whomever he is.
  5. Most important don’t talk to much shit. It’s a known fact that when you pop alot of shit in Fantasy Football you put the hex on yourself. I know it seems silly but as soon as you start posting Smack Talk on your Yahoo Fantasy League you start to lose players and all of a sudden your losing games by one point in the last second on a 4 yard loss by your QB. We are going to call it the Madden Football Hex. It applies to Fantasy Football too. When you talk shit in Madden you lose. Never fails. Same thing holds true in Fantasy Football.

That’s it for now. More on Fantasy Football as we get closer.
